Bullying, Respect, and Accountability

Terms and Conditions

Terms for using the Don't Be THAT Guy learning site — educational content only, not emergency support, and respectful use of our articles.

These terms explain how you may use the Don't Be THAT Guy (DBTG) public learning website. By using this site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

DBTG is a learning hub. It is not a counselling service, helpline, or emergency response platform.

1. Educational information, not professional advice

The information published on DBTG is intended for educational and informational purposes only.

It should not be regarded as legal, medical, psychological, counselling, or other professional advice. Every situation is different. Where appropriate, readers should seek assistance from suitably qualified professionals, trusted adults, schools, employers, or specialist organisations.

Reading an article on DBTG does not create a professional relationship between you and DBTG, its authors, or contributors.

2. Emergencies and crisis support

DBTG is not an emergency service and cannot provide immediate assistance during a crisis.

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services or an appropriate crisis organisation without delay.

DBTG exists to help people understand harm, recognise warning signs, and think more clearly about what kind of help to ask for. When someone needs hands-on support, that help should come from people and services equipped to respond — not from a learning article alone.

Where available, separate initiatives such as Lantern may help route people toward appropriate support. DBTG and Lantern are related efforts, but they are not the same service.

3. No guarantee

We strive to ensure that our content is accurate, thoughtful, and useful. However, we cannot guarantee that every article will remain complete, current, or applicable to every individual circumstance.

Laws, school policies, workplace practices, and online platforms change. What helps in one context may not be enough in another. Use your judgement, verify important details where needed, and seek qualified help when the situation is serious.

We may update, revise, or remove content as our understanding improves.

4. Respectful use

You agree to use this site lawfully and respectfully.

That includes:

  • not using DBTG to harass, abuse, threaten, or demean others
  • not attempting to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorised access to the site or its systems
  • not scraping, bulk-copying, or republishing substantial portions of the site by automated means without permission
  • not misrepresenting DBTG content as official advice from a qualified professional or emergency service

If we enable comments, forms, or other interactive features in future, the same standard applies: participate in good faith and do not post abusive, misleading, or harmful material.

Unless otherwise stated, the articles, text, branding, and original materials published on DBTG are owned by Don't Be THAT Guy or used with permission.

You may:

  • read and share links to our articles
  • quote short excerpts with clear attribution and a link back to the original page, where practicable

You may not:

  • copy and republish entire articles or substantial parts of the site as if they were your own work
  • remove attribution or imply endorsement where none exists

If you wish to reproduce content beyond brief quotation, contact us first.

6. Editorial process

Articles published on DBTG may be created with the assistance of modern editorial tools, including artificial intelligence. All published content is reviewed and approved by human editors, who remain responsible for its accuracy, intent, and editorial direction.

For more detail, see the Editorial note on our Mission and Vision page.

Privacy

Our handling of information is described in the Privacy Policy.
